INTRODUCTION:
OK the Volcano 6Cu is an aluminum cooler with a copper insert , which helps to dissipate heat through the heatsink more efficiently , thereby making a better cooler. In a word , it works. Ive already reviewed the Volcano 6Cu+ which had the 38cfm fan on it , and the only difference between the two is the fans.
On to the test: cel800 @ 992mhz 1.9v on a cuv4x MB, no side cover.
Playing quake and running 3dMark2001 for over 30 min gave a top temp of 27deg Celsius. This is some 4deg C more than with the Volcano 6Cu+ , and some 2 deg less than with the YS-tech 26cfm fan. As I said in the Volcano 6Cu+ review , this looks like a sink that can utilize high performance fans.
CONCLUSION
Im a little short on cash at the moment , but this cooler is staying in my computer, yes I like the Volcano 6Cu very much , hell , I like it enough to buy it. This cooler is some 6deg C + better than my WBK set up , the 32cfm fan is quiet enough not to bother me, and a 20% cooling improvement without the extra noise is something I just cant ignore. Again , this cooler could be awesome with the Delta 51 , its damn good with the 38cfm fan , and the Volcano 6Cu with its 32cfm fan suits me to the ground. How good is it , well its good enough so that I will part with my money, how many reviewers have said that. If your looking for a quiet achiever , here it is , and if you want to go crazy later on , then just buy a Delta 38 or 51 and you will get a nice boost in cooling power , but with the stock Volcano 6Cu there is nothing to worry about, very little noise and serious cooling power. I have to give the Volcano 6Cu 10 - 10 , it has a good balance of cooling power VS noise , at a reasonable price .
