Global Win Cak11 38

vs

Cooler Master Heat Pipe

Introduction:

Both coolers are fitted with 60mm 6800 rpm 37.6cfm fans , so any differences in performance should be strictly due to the heatsink itself . As you can see from the picture both coolers are all copper , the Global Win product being machined from one piece of copper , and the Cooler Master having its fins ( silver soldered ? ) bonded to the base. The GW has more fins , the CM has taller fins and a heat pipe . Just how do the heat pipes work ? thats a good question , a few of us were pondering just that question and there was a unanimous conclusion that they are most likely a sales gimmick . Dont get me wrong , the heat pipes look good , bit like having side pipes on your 65vet , wish I had a 65vet . But as to whether they actually do anything above and beyond cooling fins ??

The Test.

System = Asus A7v133c , T-bird 1ghz @ 1066mhz . room temp 22-23deg Celsius . Side cover off .

Cak11 38

To heat up the cpu I played Wolfenstein for an hour and then ran 3dmark2001 to push the heat up as high as possible .

42deg Celsius at full load , thats not to bad for a trim cooler , and a lot better than the old Fop38 aluminum cooler . Time to test the Heat Pipe cooler from Cooler Master .

Heat Pipe

Same deal , Wolfenstein for an hour and then 3dmark2001 to push the cpu as high as possible .

41deg Celsius at full load , one deg C difference , thats hardly worth getting excited about , except that the Cooler Master is some what cheaper than the Global Win Cak 11 38 .

The Winner

The Cooler Master wins hands down , for both price and performance .  For the consumer looking at choosing between these two coolers the choice is a simple one , for some $30 dollars less  and 1deg C better cooling the Cooler Master has to be the one to chose . Now the test would not be complete if I did not throw the Arkua 6228 into the Frey , it also has a 6800rpm 37.6CFM fan on it and is the best for its size and money cooler tested by me to date , and the Swiftech MCX 462 is the only cooler tested by me so far that has beat it .

40deg Celsius for the Arkua 6228 , this copper cored cooler is a serious performer , and the huge MCX 462 only beat it by 2deg C under full load .

Conclusion

Ive been waiting a long time to test both these coolers , and there performance is in no way disappointing , no mater which one you chose from , you will have a seriously high performance cooler strapped to your cpu , unfortunately your wallet will lose some serious weight no mater which cooler you chose , but as with most performance items , you get what you pay for , and the best buy from the two has to be the Cooler Master Heat Pipe , its cheaper and a better performer than the Global Win Cak2-38 .
