Detonator 4 (21.81) Driver Review
SYSTEM: cel800 @ 992mhz 1.9v, cuv4x MB , GF2mx , soundblaster live value, Seagate 20gig ATA100 7200rpm HDD, 384meg ram. OS = W98se , direct X8.
Well if you just got used to the 12.41 drivers , then you better strap yourself in for the new detonator 4 drivers , or as they are now officially called 21.81 Drivers. First Quake, there was no increase in framerates here , the only thing I noticed was that the graphics were slightly better.
Moving onto the 3DMark2001 test my scores went up from 1945 to 2001. Yes I know , Im still running the lowly celeron and people with AMD's should see an even greater improvement.
CONCLUSION
So far there is no down side to running the new 21.81 drivers, what you may get is better frame rates , and at the very least better graphics , this alone would be worth the update to the newer drivers. Well the Detonator 4 drivers are out and about , My 3Dmark2001 scores went up , Quake frame rates stayed the same and over all the graphics are better , thats about it, unless you have a GF3 , which is supposedly showing performance increases of around 30% +.
