            IMPRESIONS: At first
I didnt think this cooler would fit on my Epox 8k3a , but it went on
my XP1700 with plenty of room to spare . This is one trick looking
cooler folks , if only it could cool a little better. Besides just
looking good its very quiet as well , so if your looking for
something different , this just might be the cooler for you . As it
came the cooling performance was dismal to say  the least , I
removed the thermal pad and filed the base flat , for better contact
with my cpu , now at least the performance was acceptable . This is
a twin fan cooler with one fan blowing into the cooler and the other
sucking the air out , unfortunately the fans are inline with the
clip , which means you cant put more powerful fans onto the heatsink
( not on my Epox in anyway  ) , as there is not enough space on
my MB . ( twin Deltas , wow , unfortunately not possible )  TESTING: The
1000D isnt the best cooler around by far , Epox 8k3a XP1700 @
            9.5x166fsb = 1577mhz @ 1.775v , room temp 19deg C , playing Quake
            for 30min the 1000D hit 52deg C , at idle it was doing about 44deg C
, well thats actually not to bad for a all aluminum cooler , not
great ether . My Arkua 6228 is my fav cooler and it idled at 34deg C
and toped out at 38deg C , which puts the 1000D over 10deg C behind
the Arkua and Thermaltake Volcano 7 + ( which under testing beat my
            Arkua 6228 by 1deg C ) . Fan speed was just over 4900 on both fans ,
falling a little short of the claimed 5200 rpm , which is an acceptable
            difference .  CONCLUSION: Without
my filing the base flat on the 1000D , the performance would have
been dismal at best , but with the base filed flat , the performance
is acceptable , for stock use up to 1.5ghz . Without good case
cooling add another 5+ deg C to the temps I got during my tests .
This is a trick looking cooler , thats radically different from the
regular cast of characters , you find on the shelf of your local
computer store . I cant recommend this cooler  to overclockers
, but if you have a cool running cpu like a celeron , then this
cooler might be right up your alley , esp If your looking for
something different to set you apart from the crowd . For high
performance CPU owners over 1ghz , you just might want to look else
            where ( volcano 7+ ) for a cooler .   |
