Performance:

Its new , Its quiet , and works well on stock cpu's. This cooler is not for overclockers, my system refused to boot over 1.1 ghz so be told. Idle temp with the WBK was 41deg Celsius , and playing Quake took the temp to 44deg C. Not bad until you look at the room temp , 18deg C.

Idle @ 1ghz Quake @ 1ghz

Idle @ 1.1ghz Quake @ 1.1ghz

Conclusion:

Another fine cooler from Global Win, its quiet and well made . This is not a cooler for overclockers , unless we are talking about Celerons or P3 cpu's , and as to whether this cooler can handle a 1.5ghz AMD , I think so? So where does this cooler fit in , I would say up to 1ghz Amd's where stock speeds are going to be the go and quiet operation is a must. Are there better coolers out there , yes. Me thinks its time Global Win got on the copper insert bandwagon , or they are going to be left behind in the performance stakes. And with summer coming , those 35deg Celsius days aren't to far behind either.

Global Win FNP08

In all fairness I dont think this heatsink can cut it as a Thunderbird cooler. I installed it in my system and the idle temp was at 48deg Celsius, room temp 20deg C. Personally I dont want my cpu reaching 48deg C under load let alone at idle . I didnt test this cooler under load as I didnt want to do my cpu any harm .

Idle @ 1ghz

Volcano 6 Cu

This is the cooler I run at the moment , so lets see how the Volcano does :

Idle @ 1ghz Quake @ 1ghz

40deg Celsius playing quake , not bad with the room temp around 20 deg C . Lets see how it overclocks. 1.15ghz @ 1.75v no problems. Room temp back to 18deg Celsius.

Idle @ 1.15ghz Quake @ 1.15ghz

Well I guess that Ive proved one thing , just how sensitive to heat cpu's are when overclocking , thats why you should get the best cooler you can afford, that way you get the most from your investment. My room temp kept fluctuating due to changing weather patterns during the day , 18-20deg C . Still The two coolers tested are some what dated now and copper inserts or all copper coolers are the way to go , unless some form of plating is used to increase heat transfer , such as gold.
