FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

This cooler is built to the same excellent standard that I have become accustomed to from Arkua . I have to mention the retaining clip , never have I had to adjust , tweak or bend ,  the clip , on these fine coolers . They have gone on and of my MB as easily as a mountain goat would walk up a hill , as easily as you or I would get out of bed , were it so that I could say the same for all Manufacturers , which I can not , kudos to Arkua for not overlooking this small detail . Looking at the pic above you can see the X design of the heatsink allowing air to flow straight through the heatsink thereby maintaining air velocity , as well as allowing air to blow directly onto part of the CPU.

Running the Arkua 628 next to my fav cooler , the Arkua 7528 , with both hooked up to the AT power supply , it wasn't hard to tell which cooler made less noise , the 628 was a little more quiet over all . ( Arkua 7528 is rated at 39dBA and the 628 is rated at 33dBA )

HOW IT PERFORMS:

When it comes down to performance vs noise , Ive personally found the Arkua 7528 to be the cooler of choice , excellent performance at a low level of noise .

ROOM TEMP 23deg Celsius , AMD xp1700 cpu @ 1.53ghz on a Asus A7v133c

TEST =  3dMark2001 demo looped for 30min followed by a benchmark .  Side cover on .

Arkua 7528

Actually the temp was 44deg C but dropped to 43deg C before I could do a screen capture of MBM5 . Time to test the Arkua 628 .

Arkua 628 =

Ok , thats a rather good result , it took a minute longer for the temp to drop down to 43deg C from 44deg C than with the Arkua 7528 . I was expecting the performance to be slightly worse , taking the smaller size and lower airflow of the 628 into account .

CONCLUSION:

Taking the size of the heatsink and airflow (23cfm) into consideration , this is a truly awesome performer . Arkua have done it again  , a small , light , quiet , high performance cooler , that is actually capable of doing what it is advertised to do . Arkua have in no way pushed this product as an overclocking tool , it is meant for stock applications , and dont forget that my cpu is already  overclocked from 1.47ghz to 1.53ghz , and its almost as good as the 70mm 7528  ( 36cfm ) in keeping my cpu cool . I have nothing bad to say about this cooler , in fact I have to highly recommend this cooler to anyone who is noise sensitive , I dont think that a cooler capable of this level of performance can possibly be made more quiet , smaller , or lighter , in the near future , that can run with the big dogs .

10 out of 10 Arkua , a truly amazing performance .

I would like to thank ARKUA for making this review possible .
